Body Image and Eating Disorders

You are so much more than your body.

Your weight is the least interesting thing about you.

Body Image and acceptance work could be for you if…

  • You’re tired of your life revolving around food, your weight, or how your body looks.

  • You want to stop binge eating and feeling out of control around food, but don’t know how.

  • You’ve noticed patterns of “eating well” and “being good” followed by diet “fails” or “ruining your diet” where you eat to the point of feeling sick.

  • You spend a significant amount of time concerned with your body, how you look, or what you have or haven’t eaten.

  • You have lost or gained a significant amount of weight and are starting to feel worried about your mental health.

Do these patterns with food and diet sound familiar?

I offer individual and group services:

So many of my clients have told me they are tired of their mind being distracted and full of thoughts about when they will next eat, what it will be, how many calories they’ve had today, or how to lose the next five pounds. Maybe you’ve stopped going out to dinner with friends, to birthday parties, or family gatherings because you’re avoiding the food at the event. Maybe you’re tired of trying diet after diet, weight loss trend after trend, only to regain the weight you lost (and then some). Do you find yourself skipping breakfast or “eating healthy” all day, only to eat a whole carton of ice cream or cookies at night? Many of my clients engage in restrictive eating, only to overeat at night or binge on something they feel guilty about. If you can relate to some or all of these things, I might be able to help!

How I can Help:

I’ve worked with eating disorders and body acceptance work for 5+ years. I use a Health at Every Size perspective to support clients in releasing the expectation that their body is “supposed” to look a certain way in order to be healthy. Research shows that it is possible for our bodies to be healthy at many different sizes. Instead of fixating on the number on a scale, we will work together to identify the lifestyle, goals, and habits you want to embody in order to live a healthy life. We will practice the principles of Intuitive Eating to heal your relationship with food and find balance when it comes to nourishing yourself. Often times, restriction, overeating or bingeing, overexercising, or obsessing over healthy eating are tools we use to cope with stress and distract ourselves from other challenges or pains in life. Together we can explore how your habits around food and your body have helped you cope with life, and find other tools to replace the ones that aren’t serving you anymore. Please book an intro call so we can discuss more about your relationship with food and your body to see if I could be a good fit.

Intuitive Eating and Body Image Support Group

I offer a weekly support group for those who are specifically interested in improving their relationship with food and body, but not in a place to invest in individual therapy.

This group meets each week and will go over all 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating in great detail. You will also have time to ask questions, share and hear others’ experiences, and build connection with other people who are on the same journey as you are. Stop feeling crazy and out of control around food, and start feeling empowered!
